Directions:
Cedar Point is not actually on Dauphin Island, but is
the area that can be seen
just before the bridge from the mainland.
My suggestion is to bird here on your way to the island, because once you
cross that bridge you may not ever want to leave!!
Cedar point birding areas:
The water that lines the road here is good for swimming/diving birds
such as grebes (eared, pied-billed) and mergansers (common, red-breasted).
The area around the fishing pier is also good for several kinds of blackbirds,
such as grackles (common and boat-tailed) and red-wings. Also, egrets and
herons of all kinds are easily found.
