Directions:
The
Isle Dauphine Golf Course
is located on the Gulf
of Mexico at the end of Orleans Street. Take a right at the 3 way stop after
crossing the bridge onto the island. Traveling west on Bienville, take a
left on Orleans street and go until you go through the gates. There is a public
parking area past the tennis courts and the pro-shop.
As always in public areas, please be aware of the golfers and know that they
have first priority. Stay clear of fairways that are being used, since a flying
golf ball can cause a nasty bruise. However, if you see me playing there, stay
in the fairway and you will be sure to be safe. I suggest that you bird here
on Mondays, as the course is closed to golfers for maintenance. However, no
matter when you bird the golf course, please check with the pro shop to be
sure that you will not interfere with day to day operations.
Golf course birding:
Several small ponds are located on the golf course (great for birders, not so
great for golfers). Snow geese have been seen here along with cormorants,
anhinga, and other water fowl. Whimbrel have also been seen here.
